i dont have to be a bird to be a bird
i’ve always wanted to fly but i was not born as a bird. the still water mimics the blue and white of the sky as if trying to convince me to jump in. i stand and stare at my reflection and wonder what a fish would think when it saw me? would it think i am flying when it sees my silhouette against the blue and white? i take a step back from the deceiving mirror and think to myself;
i don’t have to be a bird to be a bird
i just have to be convincing enough
the view extends to infinity on all four sides and i just want to close my eyes. the only relief is that there seems to be no one around.
i stagger aimlessly like a rootless tree with colors seeping out of my body as if they have found a better place to live in.
who do i see when i look in the mirror?
is it always the same person?
who do i see when i look in the mirror?
and why is it never you?
